The standards, built into the record.
The record carries the fields these standards ask for, and five checks run against the contract specification as readings are entered. Conformance on a given contract stays the inspector's call and the specification's.

Checks means the app compares the reading with the specification and flags a miss. Records means the record holds the fields and prints them; the decision is the inspector's.
Not claimed today: output formatted to NAVSEA Standard Item 009-32. The record holds the measurements such a report draws on.
Sheet 03How checks behave
The specification is the authority. The check is the inspector's tool.
- A check flags, it never blocks. A thin reading or a short spread is saved and flagged; the inspector decides what happens next.
- The spec's own numbers govern. Where the spec sets a dew-point margin, DFT range or salt ceiling, that's the figure. The app falls back to a general figure only where the spec is silent.
- Recorded and specified print apart. What you recorded and what the spec says sit on separate rows, never one in the other's voice.
- A site decides what prints. Every check runs on every record; whether its results print on that site's reports is a site setting.

Dew-point spread, the app's own arithmetic.
The same formula the app runs on a sling psychrometer or an electronic meter's readings. Fahrenheit throughout. Your specification's margin governs; 5.4 °F is the figure the app falls back to when the spec gives none.
